“Guernicas+: Subaltern Memories” to be held in Bilbao on July 15–16

On July 15 and 16, the Bizkaia Aretoa (UPV/EHU, Avda. Abandoibarra 3, Bilbao) will host the summer course “Guernicas+: Subaltern Memories”, organized by the research group MHLI (Historical Memory in Iberian Literatures).

The course is coordinated by Ismael Manterola Ispizua and Aitana Albisua-Ortiz, both members of MHLI. Other researchers from the group, such as Leire Iruretagoiena Goikoetxea, will also take part, along with renowned experts in history, activism, and contemporary art: Isabel Mellén, Maite Garbayo, Julen Díaz de Argote, María Oianguren, Lala Mujika, Juango Olasagarre, Miriam Isasi and Verónica Domingo, among others.

Course objectives

* Reflect on the bombing of Gernika and Picasso’s Guernica from feminist, queer and postcolonial perspectives
