The summer course organized by MHLI and UEU will be held on October 6th
The summer course Gernikak: arte bidezko gorpuzteak eta islak [Guernicas: embodiments and reflections through art] organized jointly by the research group MHLI and UEU will be held on October 6, at the Isasi Palace in Eibar.
Leading experts and renowned creators will participate in a course that will run from morning to afternoon. The main focus of this event will be to analyze the updates and transmedial phenomena related to Picasso’s famous work, Guernica
Anthropologist Joseba Zulaika will open the course, exploring the influence of Gernika in the construction of both the internal and external image of the Basque community. Then, art historian and MHLI member Ismael Manterola will examine in detail the characteristics of the painting in question.
After the presentations of these two experts, a group of creators from various artistic disciplines will enter the stage. Specifically, the writer Garbiñe Ubeda, the illustrator Joseba Larratxe (known as Josevisky), the musician Aitor Etxebarri and the dancer Jon Maya will meet in a high-level round table. After a break for lunch, there will be a film forum where two audiovisuals influenced by Gernika will be screened, with the participation of its creators, Bego Vicario and Josu Rekalde.
