The traveling exhibition Artearen Memoria Hezkuntzan. Errenteriako Herri Arte Eskolako esperientzia [The Memory of Art in Education. Experience of the Herri Arte school of Errenteria] is one of the results of the project Memoriaren Artea eta Artearen Memoria Hezkuntza [Memory of Art and Art of Memory in Education], carried out by the education subgroup of MHLI research group. The first session of the exhibition was held from June the 3rd to June 21st of 2024 in the Elai Alai hall in Gernika. The second opened on Monday, February the 3rd, at the Xenpelar House in Errenteria, and will be on view until February the 21st.
The exhibition shows a didactic experience carried out at the Herri Arte School in Errenteria. The education subgroup of the research group Historical Memory in Iberian Literatures (MHLI) has created a didactic proposal to deal with young people (specifically with students in the second cycle of Primary School) the social conflicts that have deeply influenced the Basque area throughout the XX-XI centuries. This proposal is based on an interdisciplinary method that considers the arts as a way of use. For the elaboration of the idea and the design of the method proposal, we have collaborated with experts in the field of history, art and education and, therefore, the result has been the fruit of a varied and enriching process.

The exhibition at Errenteria was presented yesterday, on February the 4th, at a press conference held at Xenpelar house. There were Ane Arrastoa and Izaro Arroita, members of the education subgroup; Aitor Zorzano, president of the Herri Arte School; Beñat Ralla, coordinator of the same school, and Eider Pérez, teacher of the school. The event was also attended by teachers and professionals from the surrounding schools, so that the presentation event served not only to disseminate the exhibition, but also to generate synergies.

The next exhibition will take place at the University Pavilion of the Alava Campus, in Vitoria-Gasteiz, and will be on display from March the 3rd to 21st.
